Before her law practice, Lingyan gained over thirteen years of valuable pharmaceutical research and development experience as a medicinal chemist for two of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.  At one, she received the Presidential Award for her research on Alzheimer's disease.  Lingyan is named as co-inventor in twelve patents.  Being an inventor herself, she understands how essential a clear technical insight is for patent procurement and patent litigation.  With years of patent law practice and strong scientific expertise, she is able to grasp the concept behind each unique invention quickly and work effectively with clients.

Lingyan enjoys representing a wide range of clients from different countries.  She grew up in China before she came to the United States, making her adapt to multicultural environment easily.  Her fluency in English, Mandarin and Shanghai Dialect, together with her scientific background and intellectual property knowledge, makes her better serve clients in today’s business setting.

Lingyan started her practice in intellectual property law as an intern with Intellectual Property Department of a global pharmaceutical company.  She then became an in-house patent attorney for a biotechnology company.  

This has given her an inside understanding of corporate patent needs for both start‑ups and global corporations.  Her practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law in the field of chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology.  She focuses on patent procurement, patent litigation, and opinion work on patentability, validity and freedom to operate.  Lingyan also has experiences in IP transactional work including preparing non-disclosure agreements, service agreements and licensing agreements.  Having the experience of law practices both with in-house and private sector, Lingyan knows how to counsel clients in all aspects to provide high quality results to meet their business needs.
