Greg Reilly’s practice encompasses all aspects of IP law, including litigation and licensing, but with a particular focus on domestic and foreign patent and trademark counseling and procurement, as well as due diligence and right-to-use investigations.
Greg’s patent prosecution practice includes specialized USPTO proceedings, such as patent reexaminations and reissues. Notably, Greg has developed a substantial practice using broadening reissues to “reopen” client patent portfolios and expand the scope of protection where it advances the client’s business interests.
Greg takes the time to investigate the latest changes in IP law and USPTO rules, as well as to consider how to take advantage of those changes to add value to clients’ IP portfolios. He has used that expertise not only in advising clients with complicated procedural issues, but also in helping to develop and implement patent-related procedures within the firm.
Strong Grasp of a Variety of Technologies
Greg has experience obtaining patents in a wide variety of mechanical and other related technological fields, including medical devices, semiconductor processing, rechargeable batteries, computer software, and consumer products. That broad exposure allows him to quickly grasp new technologies and identify the key inventive aspects for patent protection.
Greg’s experiences extend beyond his substantial patent prosecution practice and include litigation support and trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, as well as negotiating and drafting settlement agreements in a variety of contested matters. Based on his breadth and depth of experience, and also his firm grasp of the intricacies of U.S. IP law, Greg is able to develop innovative solutions tailored to each client’s specific needs. In doing so, Greg always focuses on maximizing the value of each client’s IP protection using a comprehensive strategy, consistent with the client’s business goals, all while minimizing risks.
