Patent Prosecution and Procurement
Reports to: PODs Supervisors, Director of Human Resources
Position Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The position has dual functioning position:
Primarily, this candidate must have the ability to work with Intellectual Property Attorneys in the processing and prosecution of patent applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This position requires independent performance of paralegal capacity and very strong organizational skills. Knowledge of patent prosecution procedures in the US is needed. Assistance in supporting the managing of attorneys’ dockets is required.
Secondarily, the position seeks someone who enjoys training others. Training on software and possibly patent prosecution procedures will be required. This position will be in development and grow with the candidate.
Skills:
• Knowledge of the patent prosecution procedures in the United States.
• Very strong communication and people skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and accurately.
• Ability to create and produce training materials.
• Excellent computer and organizational skills.
• Able to work in a team environment.
Requirements:
• A minimum of three years’ experience working in patent prosecution in either a secretarial or paralegal capacity.
• Knowledge of the MicroSoft Office Suite.
• Strong technical skills.
• Knowledge of IP Software is a plus.
• Ability to work overtime from time to time when needed.
• College degree preferred but not required.

Paralegal
The firm is looking for an IP Paralegal to join our Information Specialists Department. This department is responsible for due diligence assignment searches for mergers and acquisitions including worldwide patent and trademark chain of title research and expiration. Position requires organized project management skills for large worldwide assignment projects from cost estimate to completion of ownership transfer including filing of assignments both in the U.S. and abroad.
Candidates should have the following skill set:
- Professional demeanor.
- Critical attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and Windows.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for interactions with attorneys, clients and other law firms.
- Ability to handle large volume of workflow and prioritize tasks.
- Critical attention to detail and proof reading skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate status is essential.
- Able to work in a team environment.
