Patent Attorney or Agent (Electrical Engineering, AI, Physics or Computer Science Background)
The firm seeks a Patent Attorney or Agent to assist in patent prosecution in the electrical, AI, and computer arts for renowned clients in cutting-edge technologies. A successful candidate will collaborate with inventors and clients to understand their technology, identify potential patentable aspects, and develop a strategic patent filing strategy. Must be able to evaluate the patentability of inventions by conducting thorough technical analysis, including assessing novelty, non-obviousness, and utility; prepare comprehensive patent applications, including detailed descriptions of the invention, claims, and drawings, ensuring clarity and accuracy in conveying complex concepts; interact with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) by filing patent applications, responding to office actions, and arguing for the allowance of claims during the patent prosecution process. The candidate should have experience conducting thorough prior art searches to identify relevant patents and publications that may impact the patentability of an invention, as well as assess potential legal risks associated with a client's technology by analyzing existing patents.
Requirements include an undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical engineering, physics or computer science with a deep understanding of technical issues, including at least some of the following: display technologies such as driver and driving circuits, pixels, thin film transistors, circuits, power systems, electronics, semiconductors, AI, communication systems, telecommunications, and related technologies. The candidate should have superior credentials and must be admitted to practice before the USPTO. Chemical Associate or Patent Agent (3-5 years’ experience)
The Firm seeks an experienced associate to serve our rapidly growing base of clients in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts, and in particular for patent preparation and prosecution. However, as you grow with Lerner David, you will have opportunities to work directly with clients in other aspects of our patent practice, including clearance investigations and opinions, client counseling, management and strategic planning. Strong background in organic chemistry and demonstrated skills in patent preparation and prosecution is essential.
